CORROSION PROTECTION SOLUTIONS
Corrosion Protection for Military Applications
SuperCORR A is an advanced corrosion protection spray that was originally designed to prevent electrical and electronic components from systems failures caused by corrosion. Developed for the U.S. Air Force and within strict safety specifications (complies with MIL-DTL-87177B), it has been the proven standard for avionic corrosion protection within MROs (maintenance, repair and operations) and OEMs (overhaul and original equipment manufacturers). It’s unique ability to displace water and provide a performance enhancing level of corrosion protection has led to it being used in many other applications and industries worldwide.
Specially Formulated Anti-Corrosive Inhibitors
The ultimate defence against corrosion
- Contains extremely long-lasting, specially formulated and proprietary anti-corrosive inhibitors that provide a superior lubrication coefficient and protect components against moisture, wear, general and fretting corrosion, surface static electricity, corona, and other electro migration problems. Corrosion inhibitor for electronic switches, PCBs, contacts, connectors and other electronic and electrical parts.
- Prevents corrosive damage to electronics and other surfaces caused by exposure to the Sulfur dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Ammonia (NH3), Chlorine based gases (Cl2) based gases in Class III mixed gas tests as well as the thermal decomposition by product of HFC-227ea used in fire suppression systems, Hydrogen Fluoride (HF).
- Prevents deterioration and contamination on all surfaces of electronic and electrical equipment and mechanical close tolerance moving components.
- Tested for several years by the U.S Air Force in conjunction with Air Force Research Lab, Batelle Labs, Sandia National Laboratories and a number of F-16 and F-15 squadrons were tested, with excellent results.
- Approved for use on the U.S. Air Force’ F-16 and F-15’s as well as all other U.S. military aircraft as a lubricant and corrosion preventive compound to improve contact lubrication and prevent corrosion in all avionic, electronics, electrical systems, switches, connector’s and components. Using SuperCorr-A was found to improve aircraft reliability and mission capable rates as well as reducing maintenance Man-Hours there by reduces costs.
- Reduces or eliminates False Alarms failures as well as No Fault Found problems in avionics and electrical systems and components and problems caused by Cadmium corrosion.
- SuperCORR A is hydrophobic, that is it repels water and forms a “self-healing” ultra-thin film barrier that prevents moisture from coming into contact with the coated electronic components. It will not only prevent moisture from coming in to contact but will displace moisture that is there already.
Case Studies
Above: Jackscrews for U.S. Navy’s P3 fleet
- IMAGE 1: Jackscrew treated with oil based lubricant after water contact.
- IMAGE 2: Jackscrew after contact with water and two weeks normal operation after application of SuperCORR A.
- Application of SuperCORR A to the flap tracks, jackscrews and asymmetry detector chains of the U.S. Navy’s entire P3 fleet, may save more than 40,000 maintenance man-hours per year. The cost saving when use is expanded to other areas will be significant. Jackscrews extend and retract P-3 wing flaps. As the jackscrews are carbon steel, if any moisture is present corrosion develops within hours . This corrosion results in additional wear and binding of the P-3 flap tracks and screwjacks so an oil based lubricant was previously applied during the daily maintenance.

- SuperCORR A conforms to U.S. Mil-DTL-87177B (Formally Mil-L-87177A). The Air Force has calculated a cost saving of approximately $450 million, over three years, on the 150 F-16 aircraft based at different geographic locations around the U.S. Initial estimates indicate cost savings could reach $500 million annually for the entire F-16 fleet.
